Frigidaire A/C for tight windows
This is a fabulous unit. It works very well and cools my living space to my satisfaction. Although it is quite expensive compared to similar sized units that are a conventional style for large windows, I had to use this unit because my windows are smaller in width than normal. I bit the bullet and it paid off for me. It is a bit akward for one person to install, but doable. The features are great. I oversized my needs, as I would recommend anyone who is looking for a window unit. I also purchased the 10,000btu Fridgidaire convention window unit for my bedroom and am equally impressed. For those who say any window unit is loud, you should have installed regular A/C with the condesor unit on the outside of the house and paid 10 times the price. The white noise produced by these window units arent a big deal, no more than a table fan....CHEERS!!!

Most Underlined Buyer Review : It cools well, is relatively quiet, and efficient
This unit easily kept a 500 sq. Ft. room 80 degrees when it was over a hundred this past summer. We live in the mountains of New Mexico so it is only needed during the heat of the day. It may have cooled it more but we are perfectly comfortable at 80 and never bumped it any lower. I must also say it cools the room rather quickly and there have been times we've just turned it on for 15 minutes do drop the temp a couple degrees. This was to replace an older unit that was framed into the wall near our kitchen and this unit fit perfectly. I was surprised our electric bill only went up $30 dollars a month, although we only have it on for about 6-8 hours a day. I would definitely get another one of these units. When in doubt I would say get a bigger unit but if you only need to cool a couple hundred square feet, like a small bedroom, the 8,000 or 10,000 would probably do fine. My unit was on sale for $450 so the current price seems high so perhaps some shopping around may be in order. No...

Cold and Quiet
Was looking for a portable AC but found the EER ratings were not regulated on portable ACs - and thus bogus. Every Tech I spoke with would go with a window unit over a portable when it comes to efficiency.
Did alot of research; I needed a quiet AC, since it was going in a window in a small bedroom. While this unit was alot more costly than other units of the same size, I found it well made.
My only gripes are the cheap screws provided ... which I replaced with stainless. The instructions were so busy telling you what not to do - I found them confusing and almost useless.
The color is more of a vary light grey - much lighter then in the pictures ... and looks great with my white walls.
While a little on the pricey side ... I find the cold air and extremely quiet unit, to be exactly ... what I was looking for.

I am totally in love with this item. It is high quality product, smart features. I just got it today, and I will update my testimonial later if required.

NOT TRUE SIZE - AVOID
This filter measures about 1/2" smaller on each side than what is advertised.
This in effect causes the filter to NOT create an air-tight seal and can slide around in the housing.
DO NOT BUY - not having the true sizes loses effectiveness.

There Is A Fix!
I use this fan at the sales counter at my work. It keeps two of my coworkers and me very cool when we're running around all day. At first use, the fan was shaking a lot, and even though there are isolation mounts at the base, the shaking made a VERY irritating rattle noise. We took the front cover off, and found that the blades themselves were way too loose. We balled up some electrical tape and shoved it into each of the blade holders. SO SILENT NOW, even when at its highest setting. Aside from the rattling issue, this little fan was a great purchase. We've used it every day for about two months now, no problem.

LOUD, LOUD, LOUD!!!! On the High fan setting my iPhone says it's 105dB! I don't know how they can even sell something that loud. That said, we have had heat indexes of 115 all this week, and although I'm grateful to have something, it doesn't keep up with the heat very well. Last year, it decided that the filters needed to be cleaned, (which I had already done), so it stopped working. It'd be nice to have it warn you instead of just stopping. What made matters worse, it gives you a cryptic E1 code, but the manual does not tell you what this means or how to fix it. It took half a day to learn how to reset it.

It is very noisy, you don't want to be anywhere near it when it works.... Not a good choice for bedroom or office

When it works, it can provide 20F temperature difference. But the problem is that the energy saving mode (which is supposed to stop the A/C after reaching the temperature target, no more noise) keeps malfunctioning. The manual says once target temperature is reached, the compressor shuts off and the fan continues to work for 3 minutes. Often it gets stuck in fan mode and never stops making noise. This is intolerable... I am returning it. Just can't sit by this noisy thing for hours.

If the temperature is set to 78, there should be some distance between the shutting down and starting temperature. If it is programmed to shut down at 70F with 3 minutes delay and start at 70.1F, there is a good chance it never stops working...

The box says that this is recommended for rooms 360 to 410 square feet.
My room is less than 380 square feet and has low ceilings. This unit did not cool down my room at all.

It was only 83 degrees outside, I ran the unit for 3 hours and the inside did not get any cooler than 81 degrees. I let the unit run as the outside temperature cooled to 79 degrees and inside remained at 81 degrees. I ran it againg the next day. This time, I started running it when the temperature outside and inside was 78 degrees. The unit did maintain the room at about 79 degrees while the outside got up to 85 degrees.

If you have a small room, this is probably one of the best portable air conditions you can buy.

The only other thing I really don't like about this unit is that all of the control is with the remote control. If the remote control is lost or breaks, all you can do is turn on the unit and it goes into default mode. If the unit remains plugged in, it goes to...

I got this item about 4 days back and am really delighted with the item. I had an Champion Cooler 350Cfm Port Ultracooler Cp35 Evaporative (Swamp) Cooler and I would never ever buy again. Up until now so great. Cannot be even worse than the Champion Cooler 350Cfm Port Ultracooler Cp35 Evaporative (Swamp) Cooler Also if you registered it on line you got an added two months warranty.

Worked surprisingly well
I am really surprised that his cooler works so well. I put it in a room where the temperature runs approximately 4 degrees higher then the rest of the house and within one hour it had lowered the temperature of the room to 2 degrees below the rest of the house. I was told that in this arid part of the country this cooler would be perfect and the Home Depot sales associate was correct.

YES, it is a little noisy, but so is an air conditioner if you are in the same area as it is in. The compressor for an A/C unit is loud as is the blower fan. This cooler seemed to work pretty well . . . for about two months. Then the pump died. Now it is nothing more than a very expensive box fan. I would really stick clear of this item. There is no good reason for this thing to have failed in such a short time.
