I recently built a new backyard workshop and needed an A/C unit for the Texas heat. I could have just put in a window unit; but, I wanted something that was more efficient, quieter, and that didn't block my single window.

After some research, I opted to go with this Klimaire unit since it had the features I was looking for and is also geared more toward installing it yourself than the competing models are.

Anyway, here are the things I like about the Klimaire Mini-Split:

1) It really was pretty easy to install. I'll talk about this more in a bit; but, there are several videos online and the unit comes with pretty much everything you need.

2) It has A/C, Heat, dehumidifier, and fan settings. That covers pretty much anything I could want.

3) It is EXTREMELY quiet! Both the inside and outside units are barely audible, which makes it a lot more enjoyable.

4) The remote can be mounted to a wall and works great...

Inverter Technology
A DC Inverter Air Conditioner cools and heats even when the outside temperature falls to 5º F (-15º C). Klimaire DC Inverter Air Conditioners use the ultimate cooling and heating technology of the HVAC field. Different frequencies supplied to the compressor will result in different running speeds. WHAT IS A DC INVERTER? In a DC Inverter Air Conditioner the Alternating Current (AC) is converted to Direct Current (DC) then the Direct Current is converted back to Alternating Current at any required voltage and frequency. As known, the current supplied through the wall outlet has a fixed frequency which is 60 Hertz. Different frequencies supplied to the compressor will result in it running at different speeds. I, like one of the other reviewers installed it in a workshop that I built in Texas. I have installed central air in the past, but it has been quite a few years. The biggest issue that I had was that the directions could have been worded better. I recommend that if you choose to install it yourself, watch a few installation videos on-line. This helps clarify a few issues that I came across with their directions. They do not have to be the same brand to understand the concept. There is an LG split system video (tips and how to) on You-Tube.

I found a discrepancy in the breaker size in the directions and the outside unit. I went with the 20 amp breaker stated on the actual unit, not the generic directions.

I did have to go out and purchase a vacuum pump, a set of gauges and an adapter for the gauges to hook up to the 410a refrigerant line. This required adapter is not included. Some people choose not to do this step and just purge it. I can't see how the...

I currently have one 8000 BTU and one 10,000 BTU in my two bedrooms. The 8000 BTU is in a 10' x 12' room and was purchased in 2005. The 10,000 is in a 14' x 12' room and was purchased in 2008. Both have functioned flawlessly. Their appearence is very nice and having a remote control is excellent. Because of the reliability of my previous two units I went with LG again even though they had some nice looking GE units on sale at Home Depot. I assumed this unit would look just like my earlier 10,000 BTU unit but they made some minor cosmetic changes from the earlier model LWHD1006RY6 that I have. Still looks good though. Unit is now mounted in my wall in the living room approx 14' x 20' and it is working great - just like the two older ones. I don't usually have good luck with appliances, but since I started purchasing LG I haven't had any problems.

Most Underlined Buyer Review : Works quickly, gets very cool/cold and reliable
I received this a gift for a room that gets ridiculously hot and stuff any time its not winter. Sometimes it is so hot in that room that I cannot be in it without a shirt off and the ceiling fan running at full blast and even then its uncomfortable. This AC unit takes about 20 mins to cool that room down but boy, once it cools it down it is so much cooler than the rest of the house. It does stop shooting out cold air when the air outside gets cooler but that's expect; just switch it to fan mode for 5-10 mins.

I've had it for 3-4 years and has worked every time just as well without fail. I didnt even notice the energy saving button!

Disappointed Twice
I needed air conditioner asap for my mother, so I signed up for Amazon Prime and had one overnighted to her house. I opened box to find no instruction manual, remote control, screws missing and worst of all, upon plugging in the unit I noticed the motor wasnt even attached to the frame.

I repackaged, asked for return and order another one. Arrived today and AGAIN the motor is not attached to the frame, it is missing the four screws that hold it in place, the motor/fan is just hanging there with nothing to hold it in place.

I cant understand how LG and Amazon are still selling this unit. I have been pleased with Amazon but this has been a horrible experience.

Got this product from Amazon, and it does NOT work. The fan does not turn. We noticed the fan was hanging- because another reviewer mentioned something similar about their unit, but even when the installer went out and got proper sized screws to properly attach the fan to the unit, the fan still does not work.

LG and Amazon have been nice on the phone, though I'm not convinced we will have a working unit within a week. The hassle is huge and is not worth it. Two issues: the machine doesn't work. Second, one service company that could have come to repair it earlier DOES NOT ACCEPT online receipts (ie Amazon)for warranty repairs- .... so we have to wait 4 days for another repair company, that does work with LG to come out. I really hope they can fix it in one trip.

It took 3 + hours of a professional to install- and since Amazon insisted we send everything back if we wanted an exchange- which would have meant de- installing the sleeve- and then reinstalling...

So Far This Unit is Amazing!
Purchased this LG unit for my 2600 square foot home. This unit occupies my kitchen/dining area and was intended to cool a part of the first floor. Within turning this sucker on, after five minutes, the humidity was gone out of my entire downstairs (hallway included) and it was billowing frosty cold air into my my house. It is powerful, and it's a bit louder than another 15000 BTU unit I have, but it is doing what it is supposed to do.

Note that it requires a special 230V outlet which my electrician did quite easily.

I'll update later after it's been given more of a test. So far, I love love love love it.

i have owned this ac be fore it is a great ac with all the features remote controlled, it a cools 20' x 20' room with no problem, dehumidifier works great. the only problem is the delivery service dropped the ac and and bent the out side casing so it makes a lot of noise. for $600.00 dollars i would of though it would been shipped by a reliable carrier in stead they sent a older lady with an undersized dolly to drop it off at my door the box had a small cut on the out side but she dropped it on the corner and damaged the freon coil. good thing it didn't bust the freon line. if i would known how it would be shipped i would have paid extra for shipping. i don't think i will never buy any large expensive items again!
