I received this item about 7 days back and am extremely happy with the item. I had an Friedrich SS12N10 12000 btu - 115 volt - 10.8 EER Kuhl series room air conditioner and I would never purchase once again. Up until now so good. Cannot be worse than the Friedrich SS12N10 12000 btu - 115 volt - 10.8 EER Kuhl series room air conditioner Likewise if you registered it on line you got an additional 2 months warranty.

Cool and Quiet
After an intense heat wave (3 straight days of 95+ degree heat), I realized my 9 yr. old Friedrich Quietmaster
wasn't exactly quiet (or cool) any more. My old AC compressor was running like a freight train, and when
your AC is challenging the TV for living room audio supremacy, it's time to replace it.

The problem: How do I replace my AC with minimal modification to the current window cabinet setup?

Fortunately, I found this Friedrich Kuhl which replaced my old Friedrich Quietmaster 12K BTU like a charm.
In fact, it fits perfectly into the existing cabinet so I didn't even have to use the brand new metal cabinet that
came with the Kuhl.

So far, I've been pleased with the Kuhl. The TV volume no longer has to be set at Concert Blast level

I would have to say I was nervous spending this much money on an AC unit and some of the reviews didn't help. But you know often all you hear are the bad things about a product. So hears the good new. This unit is quiet, really quiet! Sure some folks may have received a noisy unit but I'm guessing they did a poor job of installing and insulating it. Also, it provides a ton of cooling. I was fortunate and specifically picked this size unit because it slid into the opening that was previously occupied by the old AC unit. For those who say the instruction are poor I found the direction are straight forward on how to install the unit. Just take the time to read all the instruction (maybe several times) and if you have a modest set of skills you should be able to install the unit through the wall. I'm in southern California, where the humidity varies pretty widely. I place the cooler six or eight feet from my chair, and on the hottest days I'm quite comfortable.
Benefits:
* it's about 1/5 the cost of an air conditioner
* operating expense is a fraction of the cost of air conditioning
* neat features! (timer, sleep function, etc.)
* remote control

Drawbacks:
