Well, after doing a lot of research and reading the testimonials right here and elsewhere, I decided to purchase Air Conditioning Window Unit Light Duty Support Bracket - up to 80 Pounds. Though I 'd have liked a better warranty, I decided the functions were appealing enough to try it. It is a lot of money to toss away if it fails simply after the warranty. I am completely in love with this product. It is high quality product, clever features. I simply got it today, and I will update my testimonial later on if required.
Not for NYC pre-war apartments
Do not get this if you live in NYC in an apartment or if you live in a brick house. The horizontal bar that extends outward and supports the AC will be too short for most brick apartments in NYC, especially pre-war standard NYC brick co-op apartments...don't even think about getting this if you have one of those super old extended ledge pre-war windows.
I ordered this for the Frigidaire 8,000 BTU Frigidaire--which is around 50 pounds.
Invest in the next one up which is longer and supports 10,000 BTU and up.
In the end, hot and annoyed, wanting to get the AC installation over with, I called a local PC Richard, received verbal confirmation they carried 2 types of brackets (under 10,000 BTU and over 10,000 BTU), physically went there, got the longer one, paid probably $20 more than Amazon but priceless in instant gratification, and got it over and done with.

I installed the window stand for my small (average size) AC unit, in about 20 -25 min's. You must have the proper tools (like, screw driver, Drill etc) and, be patient. If I can do it, just about anyone
