It cools but noisy
I just bought this unit yesterday and installed it immediately. Installation was a breeze with all the necessary parts in the box.

PROS: It works quite well on a 10 X 12 room. After a few minutes the room was much cooler and made it comfortable.

CONS: Noisy. Unit is fully secured and stable so no motor vibration at all. It is the air cycle that is noisy. It's even noisier than my box fan at full speed. Have to turn it off to be able to sleep.

Returning it back and search for another unit.

Most Underlined Buyer Review : noisy, control has problems
It is very noisy, you don't want to be anywhere near it when it works.... Not a good choice for bedroom or office

When it works, it can provide 20F temperature difference. But the problem is that the energy saving mode (which is supposed to stop the A/C after reaching the temperature target, no more noise) keeps malfunctioning. The manual says once target temperature is reached, the compressor shuts off and the fan continues to work for 3 minutes. Often it gets stuck in fan mode and never stops making noise. This is intolerable... I am returning it. Just can't sit by this noisy thing for hours.

If the temperature is set to 78, there should be some distance between the shutting down and starting temperature. If it is programmed to shut down at 70F with 3 minutes delay and start at 70.1F, there is a good chance it never stops working...

The box says that this is recommended for rooms 360 to 410 square feet.
My room is less than 380 square feet and has low ceilings. This unit did not cool down my room at all.

It was only 83 degrees outside, I ran the unit for 3 hours and the inside did not get any cooler than 81 degrees. I let the unit run as the outside temperature cooled to 79 degrees and inside remained at 81 degrees. I ran it againg the next day. This time, I started running it when the temperature outside and inside was 78 degrees. The unit did maintain the room at about 79 degrees while the outside got up to 85 degrees.

If you have a small room, this is probably one of the best portable air conditions you can buy.

The only other thing I really don't like about this unit is that all of the control is with the remote control. If the remote control is lost or breaks, all you can do is turn on the unit and it goes into default mode. If the unit remains plugged in, it goes to...

My husband and I bought an LG LWHD8008R from Home Depot to replace a smaller unit we had. Within one week, the new unit stopped working. It stopped cooling air, and constantly cycled between the fan and the 'dry' setting on its own. After investigating the problem with no results, my husband returned it to Home Depot and exchanged it for another one. That one worked fine until today. I am really surprised that his cooler works so well. I put it in a room where the temperature runs approximately 4 degrees higher then the rest of the house and within one hour it had lowered the temperature of the room to 2 degrees below the rest of the house. I was told that in this arid part of the country this cooler would be perfect and the Home Depot sales associate was correct.

I am entirely in love with this product. It is high quality product, smart attributes. I just got it today, and I will upgrade my testimonial later on if required.

This is in Amazon twice, so I'm reviewing twice. Bought for specs - reasonably met cooling expectations given the conditions in which I use it. Heating was abysmal. Just after warranty expiration the exhaust squirrel cage fan blades disentigrated. Called Soleus to buy a new part. Once thru phonemail hell, the obviously new customer service person, although trying to help, finally found out Soleus no longer sells parts. But, for $45/hr they'll troubleshoot and fix it. Just bring it in. They're in El Monte - I'm not. I believe the cheap plastic fan case warped allowing contact with the blades. Lousy customer support. Because this is manufactured in China I cannot find a replacement unit thru normal channels. So I bought a New Air AC1600H based upon many reviews. Not here yet. Stand by.

Stay away from Haier products because the proof is written all over the internet that they are nothing but junk. I picked up a GE air conditioner for the same price and it does a great job.

Last summer I bought three of these units to cool my house as I have casement windows and window units do not work for me. Two of the units work fine and one had the same problem many complain about. It would fill with water and then shut off. After 2 days (during the hottest weather of course), it would not function at all. I called and they gave me the same answers that they give others but did agree to have it sent back for repairs as it would not come back on in any mode. Not easy to pack it up and send it back but we did. Three weeks later I got a refurbished (maybe my own) unit back and it did the same thing, did not automatically dry the water out and shut off constantly but was functioning. We have tried this unit in all three places so it is the unit as the other 2 do not have this problem but the company claims it is too humid, WRONG, they don't want to fix the problems with some of their units. I have the bad unit elevated and have a tube that drains into a mid size kitchen...

Bought this A/C because of Consumer Report recommendation.
The unit is ok, easy to run & cools very quickly, But---
Not as quiet as I would have liked. Mounting is terrible, Manuel is poorly written & lacks a lot of information. The unit is designed to mount in a wood frame window but they want you to drive 8 screws into your woodwork. I didn't have to do that since I have a Vinyl window, I did get it installed but I had to use rubber shims between frame & wherever it touched the window to cut down on noise & vibration. The side curtains & bezel are very flimsy. The sleeve was supposed to be 13-5/8 H, & my window opened to 15 in H but the unit barely fit. I would have returned the unit but since shipping was around $35, when I bought it & another $35. to return it & probably a restocking fee I decided to keep it. It's just okay. Not as good as I had hoped. It's okay to buy on line but I recommend on something this big you go somewhere to see it physically & know...
